RBC: Chapter One.

While we are brought into this story we find that we are introduced to a man. This man was one who seemed to be courageous and full of desire to fight such wars earning victories. This man was Henry, a farm boy, whose strong yearning for glory brought him into this war he had been waiting for. His mother was not very happy about his decision, but respected it. Henry soon found that maybe it wasn't right to be on that field. That maybe he should have listened to his mother. Although, he does not come out and say this it very much fits the way in which he is being portrayed to me. They are sitting in camp and have been for sometime. Battles seem almost unreal to them and hope is almost lost for some that they will even battle anyone at all. When the news comes that fighting will begin tomorrow fear sets in. Henry begins to question his ability to fight. He ponders running from it. He wonders what would happen if he did run and even talks about it with others. It is almost as if the reality of the situation comes and he regrets his decision to join the army with the other soldiers. The pride he felt wearing that uniform, the way people looked up to him, and the way he felt heroic seemed too far away at that moment. It gave the impression that war was not worth this. He was becoming a coward. He had always dreamt of becoming a soldier and to have that glory, but now he was stepping back and becoming a coward instead. However, through talking to the soldiers he did begin to feel a sense of relief that they were so confident in the battle to come. That maybe it was actually going to be all that he had ever dreamt it to be.
